DAY 1 • Rome
Arrival at Rome airport and make your way to your hotel by your own means. In the evening, you will enjoy a guided panoramic bus and walking tour by night of the Eternal City. The tour ends by the Spanish Steps area and return to the hotel on your own. Accommodation in Rome.
DAY 2 • Rome • Assisi • Siena • Florence • 375 km
Early morning departure to Assisi. Explore this medieval city on your own, where you can visit the Basilica of Saint Francis to see some masterpieces of Giotto and Cimabue. Lunch at your leisure. Continue to Siena, the medieval city renowned for the Palio Horse race. Proceed to Florence. Supper and accommodation in Florence.
DAY 3 • Florence
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning guided tour of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. You will see the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore and its famous Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and the Basilica of Santa Croce. Lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant. Afternoon is at leisure or you can take an optional excursion to Pisa ($). Accommodation in Florence.
DAY 4 • Florence • Bologna • Padova • Venice • 264 km
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to Bologna to discover this elegant city. From Piazza Malpighi you will walk to the Piazza del Nettuno, Piazza Maggiore and the Basilica of San Petronio. Lunch on your own. Continue towards Padova, where you will admire the famous Basilica of Saint Anthony, one of the most visited Catholic churches in the world. Proceed to Venice. Supper and accommodation in Venice (Mestre).
DAY 5 • Venice
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer by bus and water taxi to Piazza San Marco to admire the most iconic places of the “Floating City” such as the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the famous canals. After the walking tour, you will enjoy a glass of spritz or prosecco including “cicchetti” (a venetian variation of tapas), with your guide to end your visit of Venice. Accommodation in Venice (Mestre).
DAY 6 • Venice • Montepulciano • Rome • 543 km
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Tuscany to the medieval city of Montepulciano. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase its famous wine ‘‘Nobile’’, an emblematic Montepulciano product. Lunch in a typical local restaurant. Continue to Rome and accommodation in Rome.
DAY 7 • Rome
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning depart for a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel (no guide). The tour will end at St. Peter’s Square. In the afternoon, explore the eternal city at your own pace. Accommodation in Rome.
DAY 8 • Rome • Naples • Pompeii • Sorrento • 275 km
Early morning departure for Naples. Upon arrival, take a short panoramic tour up to Vomero Hill to enjoy the views of the city and the Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, Capri and Ischia. Then, continue to Pompeii for a lunch of authentic Neapolitan pizza. After lunch, a guided visit to the archaeological site of a city both destroyed and preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Continue towards Sorrento. Supper (formal dress code: no shorts, flip-flops, tank tops, t-shirts, nor cover-ups) and accommodation in Sorrento.
DAY 9 • Sorrento • Capri • Rome • 285 km
After breakfast, transfer to the port and depart by ferry to the island of Capri. Upon arrival at Marina Grande in Capri, you will visit the Blue Grotto (weather and capacity permitting. Guide will suggest alternative excursions). After lunch on your own, you’ll have free time to explore the island at your leisure. Return to Marina Grande to board the ferry for your transfer back to Rome. Accommodation in Rome.
