From inside the castle, enjoy a magnificent view. After the tour free time to visit on your own. Supper and accommodation at your hotel in Bari.
DAY 2 • Bari • Trani • Castel del Monte • Alberobello
After breakfast, depart for the medieval town of Trani, known as the “Pearl of Puglia”. You will admire its Jewish quarter and majestic cathedral. In the afternoon, visit the Castel del Monte, protected as a World Heritage Site. Continue to Alberobello, the “città dei Trulli”, also protected as a World Heritage Site. Trulli are dry-stone huts with conical roofs originally built for storage purposes, as well as permanent dwellings. Accommodation in a trullo and supper in Alberobello.
DAY 3 • Bari • Matera • Alberobello
After breakfast, depart by bus to Matera, in the Basilicata region, “la città dei sassi” (city of stones), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the sassi, the cave dwellings and the Romanesque Cathedral that overlook the city, with its beautiful “Campanile” (Bell Tower). Return to Alberobello in the evening. Supper and accommodation in the trullo in Alberobello.
DAY 4 • Alberobello • Locorotondo • Ostuni • Lecce
After breakfast, depart by bus to Locorotondo. This picturesque town is one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy. Continue to Ostuni, the “città bianca” (white city), another true gem south of Bari located on the summit of a hill. The region is a producer of top quality olive oil and wine. Time at leisure to visit the historical center, eat typical delicacies, shop for souvenirs or simply wander in the medieval streets. In the evening, depart to Lecce, the heart of the Salento area.
