DAY 1 • Rome
Arrival at Rome airport and make your way to your hotel by your own means. Discover the wonders of the eternal city on a Hop on Hop off panoramic bus tour (valid for one day). The bus will make eight stops and will provide you with an on-board audio commentary in 12 languages. The rest of the evening is at leisure. Accommodation in Rome.
DAY 2 • Rome • Assisi • Siena • Florence • 375 km
Early morning departure to Assisi. Explore this medieval city on your own, where you can visit the Basilica of Saint Francis to see some masterpieces of Giotto and Cimabue. Lunch at your leisure. Continue to Siena, the medieval city renowned for the Palio Horse race. Proceed to Florence. Supper and accommodation in Florence.
DAY 3 • Florence
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning guided tour of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. You will see the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore and its famous Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and the Basilica of Santa Croce. Lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant. Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to Bologna to discover this elegant city. From Piazza Malpighi you will walk to the Piazza del Nettuno, Piazza Maggiore and the Basilica of San Petronio. DAY 5 • Venice
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer by bus and water taxi to Piazza San Marco to admire the most iconic places of the “Floating City” such as the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the famous canals. After the walking tour, you will enjoy a glass of spritz or prosecco including “cicchetti” (a venetian variation of tapas), with your guide to end your visit of Venice. Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning depart for a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel (no guide) and St. Peter’s Basilica with skip the line access. The tour will end at St. Peter’s Square. In the afternoon, explore the eternal city at your own pace. Accommodation in Rome.
DAY 8 • Rome • Pompeii • Sorrento • 275 km
Early morning departure for Pompeii. Upon arrival you will have a lunch of authentic Neapolitan pizza. After lunch, a guided visit (skip the line) to the archaeological site of a city both destroyed and preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Continue towards Sorrento. Supper (dress code: jacket for men) and accommodation in Sorrento.
DAY 9 • Sorrento • Capri • Sorrento • 40 km
After breakfast, transfer to the port and depart by ferry to the island of Capri. Upon arrival at Marina Grande in Capri, you will visit the Blue Grotto (weather and capacity permitting. Guide will suggest alternative excursions). After lunch on your own, you’ll have free time to explore the island at your leisure. Return to Marina Grande to board the ferry for your transfer back to Sorrento. Accommodation in Sorrento.
