DAY 1 • Rome
Arrival at Rome airport and transfer to the hotel. Discover the wonders of the eternal city on a Hop on Hop off panoramic bus tour (valid for one day). The bus will make eight stops and will provide you with an on-board audio commentary in 12 languages. The rest of the evening is at leisure. Return to your hotel on your own. Accommodation in Rome.
DAY 2 • Rome • Assisi • Siena • Florence • 375 km
Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up early morning at your hotel and depart for Assisi to visit the mystic town of Saint Francis surrounded by ancient fortified walls. Time is at leisure for lunch and to visit the St. Francis Basilica with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. Continue towards Siena, the beautiful medieval city renowned for the Palio Horse race. Proceed to Florence. Supper and accommodation in Florence.
DAY 3 • Florence
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a guided panoramic city tour of the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John and Santa Croce, the 13th century Franciscan Church with Cimabue’s famous crucifix. Lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant in Piazza Santa Croce. Afternoon is at leisure, or you can take an optional excursion to Pisa ($). Accommodation in Florence.
DAY 4 • Florence • Bologna • Venice • 264 km
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to Bologna to discover this elegant city. From Piazza Malpighi you will walk to the Piazza del Nettuno, Piazza Maggiore and the Basilica of San Petronio. You will savor the street food (light lunch included) at a local eatery. Later in the afternoon, proceed to Venice. Accommodation in Venice (Mestre).
DAY 5 • Venice
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer by bus and water taxi to Piazza San Marco to admire the most iconic places of the “Floating City” such as the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the famous canals. After the walking tour, you will enjoy a glass of spritz or prosecco including “cicchetti” (a venetian variation of tapas) with your guide to end your visit of Venice. Afternoon is free and return to hotel on your own. Accommodation in Venice (Mestre).
DAY 6 • Venice • Montepulciano • Rome • 543 km
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Tuscany to the medieval city of Montepulciano. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase its famous wine ‘‘Nobile’’, an emblematic Montepulciano product. Lunch in a typical local restaurant. Continue to Rome and accommodation in Rome.
DAY 7 • Rome
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning depart for a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel (no guide) and St. Peter’s Basilica with skip the line access. The tour will end at St. Peter’s Square. In the afternoon, explore the eternal city at your own pace. Accommodation in Rome.
DAY 8 • Rome
After breakfast, transfer to Rome airport.
